CIVIL WAR CENTER OF TEXAS
The Civil War Center of Texas offers two events each year. In the spring the 2nd weekend of March, we offer a full re-enactment. In the fall the 2nd weekend in October, we offer a Living History weekend.
2010 will be our fifth year of providing the March event, every year the event has grown in size. In 2008 we changed our Fall Event to a Living History Weekend with classes to hone our knowledge of the life style of the1860s. Some of the classes offered this last fall were Cooking, Gunsmithing & Gun Maintenance, Bonnet making, Blacksmithing, period dancing, plus period correct games for the children with doll making. While all the classes were taking place the military units participated in a tactical. It was a time to play and expand their knowledge and ability in doing battle.
We offer a separate area for our non-period guest to camp in modern tents. Encouraging all interested in learning more about this hobby to join us for the weekend. Everyone commented on how great it was to have time to visit by the camp fires and with others that normally they have only time to wave and say hi to in passing. I hope you will consider joining us this March for the CWCT Living History event
